KYTA Himalayan Art Residency Opens for Third Edition with International Artists
KYTA – Karma Yatri Travel and Art, an experimental artist residency program at the foot of the Himalayas, launches its third edition on September 9, 2016, in the village of Kalga, Parvati Valley, India. Ten artists—five Indian and five international—will be hosted until October 16. The international participants are Maria Cukor (Slovakia), Jo Voysey (South Africa), Sam Heesen (Germany), Nadine Baldow (USA), and Sergio Racanati (Italy). Indian artists include Sachin Shetty, Sharan Narayan, Farah Mulla, Rohan Joglekar, and Harsha V Durugadda. This year, a branded KYTA collection will be created, featuring environmental installations and small works distributed across Himalayan villages. New video works will document the artists' lives and creative processes during the residency. Sergio Racanati, born in 1982 in Bisceglie, Italy, plans to produce an artist film contrasting localism with the aggressive globalism of New Delhi. He has launched a crowdfunding campaign on BeArt, offering rewards from photos to co-producer credits, with donations ranging from €5 to €500.
