Kyiv Biennial Chapter 'A Bird That Cannot Land' Opens at KW Institute for Contemporary Art

exhibition · 2026-04-17

On October 6, 2026, the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin will unveil 'A Bird That Cannot Land', a segment of the Kyiv Biennial. This exhibition, along with a series of live events, will occupy all floors throughout the summer and is curated by the KW team in collaboration with the Visual Culture Research Center. It serves as a continuation of the tenth anniversary edition planned for 2025, which previously showcased at locations such as the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and M HKA in Antwerp. The exhibition examines 'Middle-East-Europe', delving into colonial histories and the ties between post-Soviet Europe and other areas. The curatorial team features Sofie Krogh Christensen, Linda Franken, Radia Soukni, among others, with a focus on listening to shared histories. Photo credit: Frank Sperling.
