KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin expands artistic team under new director

institutional · 2026-04-20

Following Krist Gruijthuijsen's recent appointment as director, Berlin's KW Institute for Contemporary Art has revealed an expanded artistic team. Anna Gritz joins as curator, with Leaver-Yap and Tirdad Zolghadr serving as associate curators. Maurin Dietrich and Cathrin Mayer will work as assistant curators and project managers, while Marc Hollenstein takes on the graphic designer role. All new team members bring international institutional experience. Gritz previously worked at the South London Gallery and served as curatorial attaché for the 2016 Biennale of Sydney. Zolghadr maintains an international curatorial practice while teaching at the Dutch Art Institute and International Academy of Art in Ramallah. Dietrich and Mayer both contributed to the current Berlin Biennale, portions of which are on view at KW. The museum's restructuring aims to enhance collaborations for exhibitions and projects both within Berlin and internationally.
