Kunsthaus Paradiso Opens in Venice, Spotlighting Local Art Scene During Biennale
During the 2026 Venice Biennale, curator Caroline Corbetta launches Kunsthaus Paradiso at Palazzo Molin Querini, a month-long exhibition and residency featuring 50 artists who live and work in Venice. The project, running from May 4 to 31, is organized in collaboration with Venice International Foundation and aims to counter the invisibility of the local art scene during the Biennale. It evolves from Corbetta's earlier Crepaccio project, which began in 2012 as a street-level window in Milan, later became the Crepaccio Instagram Show, and debuted at the 2013 Biennale as Padiglione Crepaccio with Yoox. That pavilion, praised by Artforum, featured 10 artists and was open 12 hours daily. Now, Kunsthaus Paradiso occupies a private palazzo never before used for events, with Corbetta living on-site for the duration. The exhibition includes artists such as Thomas Braida, Fabio De Meo, Caterina Rossato, Nina Ceranic, Melania Fusco, Marta Spagnoli, Barbara De Vivi, Spazio Punch, and the collective Scafandra. The program features get-togethers, performances, workshops, and mentorship initiatives. Corbetta describes the project as a 'house within a house' and a political gesture addressing Venice's depopulation and the marginalization of its creative community. Access is free but requires registration via Eventbrite.
