Kunsthal Aarhus Exhibition Revisits 1960s Avant-Garde Scene

exhibition · 2026-05-01

From September 27 to December 31, 2014, Kunsthal Aarhus will present an exhibition titled "Aarhus Rapport – Avantgarde as Network," exploring the avant-garde art movement in Århus, Denmark, during the 1960s. The exhibition draws inspiration from the 1969 compilation "Århus Rapport 1961–1969," edited by Kristen Bjørnkjær and featuring artists like Mogens Gissel and William Louis Sørensen. Curators Joasia Krysa and Lars Bang Larsen lead the show, which includes an "Archive Section" by Anne Kølbæk Iversen and a "Re-enactment Programme" by Bang Larsen. Contemporary artists Dave Hullfish Bailey and Kirsten Justesen are also highlighted, concluding the "Systemics" series.
