Kunst Merano Arte Announces 2016/2017 Season Under New Director Christiane Rekade

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Kunst Merano Arte has launched its 2016/2017 exhibition season with a tribute to costume designer Frida Parmeggiani on her 70th birthday, running until January 8. The core program begins February 3 with the group show "exhibition paintings" curated by new artistic director Christiane Rekade, who succeeded Valerio Dehò in summer 2016. The season continues in April with a show on Merano's multicultural history curated by Luigi Fassi, followed by solo exhibitions of Helen Mirra, Gianni Pettena, and Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio, and a postwar architecture project by Armando Ronca. Rekade aims to focus on emerging international positions while collaborating with established artists like Pettena, co-founder of the Radical Architecture movement. The museum's budget is half public funds, half private sponsors. Rekade emphasizes Merano's central European location as a vantage point for observing continental dynamics.
