KSS designs Europe's first purpose-built women's football stadium for Brighton

architecture-design · 2026-04-29

Architecture studio KSS has designed a 10,000-capacity stadium for Brighton and Hove Albion's women's team, set to become Europe's first purpose-built women's football stadium if completed by 2030. The venue, located next to the Amex Stadium in England, will feature facilities tailored to female athletes, including changing rooms, recovery spaces, and social spaces. A bridge will connect it to the adjacent 31,876-capacity Amex Stadium. Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club announced the planning application this week. The stadium would be the third purpose-built women's football stadium globally, following CPKC Stadium in Missouri and a venue under development in Colorado for Denver Summit Football Club. Women's Super League chief executive Nikki Doucet called the plans 'a massive moment' for women's football, emphasizing that facilities have historically not been designed for women. Zoe Johnson, managing director of Brighton's women's team, described the project as 'incredibly exciting' and noted it could also host academy and development fixtures.
