Kruso Art's debut auction in Milan achieves strong results with Tullio Crali top lot
Kruso Art, the new brand of the auction house formerly known as Art-Rite, held its first auction of Modern and Contemporary Art in Milan on April 17, 2025. The sale featured 95 lots spanning from the early 20th century to contemporary works, with strong results for several key pieces. The top lot was Tullio Crali's 'Le forze della curva' (circa 1929-1930), a youthful work in pencil, charcoal, and tempera on paper, which sold for €25,500, within its pre-sale estimate of €25,000-€35,000. Another Crali work, 'Trimotore in impennata' (1940), fetched €10,500, exceeding its estimate of €7,000-€9,000. Giacomo Balla's 'Fiori + spazio', a wool carpet produced in 1987 from a 1925-1930 design, sold for €6,200, far above its €1,500-2,500 estimate. Mario Sironi's 'Composizione' (circa 1935), a tempera on paper, achieved €9,800, surpassing the high estimate of €8,000. Among international contemporary works, Hermann Nitsch's 'K-16-02' (2005) sold for €11,000, slightly below estimate, while Bengt Lindström's 'Combat' (1969) went for €9,000. The auction house is owned by Kruso Kapital, part of Gruppo Banca Sistema, which acquired Art-Rite in 2022 and has now rebranded it as Kruso Art.
