Kristy Edmunds to Lead MASS MoCA, Clarrie Wallis Appointed Director of Turner Contemporary

Kristy Edmunds will assume leadership of MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts, bringing extensive experience from UCLA's Center for the Art of Performance where she served as director for ten years. Her background includes significant roles in Australian arts, having been artistic director for the Melbourne International Arts Festival and holding leadership positions at the Victorian College of the Arts. Meanwhile, Turner Contemporary in Margate, England, has appointed Clarrie Wallis as its new director, marking only the second directorship in the institution's decade-long history. Wallis, a senior curator of British art at Tate since 2016, joined the institution in 1999 and has curated numerous notable exhibitions including Mark Leckey's 2019 show, Mike Nelson's 2019 exhibition, and Steve McQueen's Year 3 commission in 2019. She takes over from founding director Victoria Pomery, who departed earlier this month. Wallis's curatorial portfolio also includes exhibitions featuring Cerith Wyn Evans, Mona Hatoum, Patrick Caulfield, Richard Long, Mark Wallinger, and Tacita Dean.
