Kristine Potter's 'Pearl' print released with monograph Dark Waters, exploring Southern Gothic murder ballads.
Aperture has unveiled a limited-edition archival pigment print, 'Pearl' (2019), created by Kristine Potter, to celebrate the release of her second monograph, Dark Waters (2023). This print is part of an edition of 15, along with 3 artist proofs, and is sized at 14.8 x 18.5 inches on 16 x 20 inch paper, all signed and numbered by Potter. Dark Waters, co-published by Aperture, Images Vevey, and The Momentary, delves into Southern Gothic themes inspired by 19th and 20th-century murder ballads. 'Pearl' is among eleven portraits named after female victims, distinguished by their gaze away from the viewer. Potter's work was included in the 2021 exhibition 'But Still, It Turns,' and she was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2018, currently serving as an assistant professor at Middle Tennessee State University.
