Krist Gruijthuijsen Appointed Director of EMMA Museum in Finland
Krist Gruijthuijsen has been appointed the director and CEO of EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art, which is the largest art museum in Finland. Prior to this role, he held the position of curator at large at Kunsthaus Zurich and directed the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin from 2016 until 2024. Established in 2006 and situated in Tapiola, Espoo, EMMA hosts six exhibitions each year in addition to its permanent collections of art and design. The museum's building, originally an industrial printing facility, was designed by architect Aarno Ruusuvuori in the 1960s. Gruijthuijsen highlighted the museum's innovative approach, its diverse international programming, and its strategic location at the intersection of Scandinavia and the Baltic States.
