Kris Lemsalu to create participatory fantasy world for Estonia's Venice Biennale pavilion

Kris Lemsalu is set to represent Estonia at the 58th Venice Biennale, taking place from 11 May to 24 November 2019, as announced by the Center for Contemporary Arts in Estonia. The Estonian pavilion will be located in an industrial structure on Giudecca island. Lemsalu's exhibit will incorporate elements of music, dance, and audience interaction within a fantastical realm that merges reality with imagination. Born in 1985 in Tallinn, she divides her time between Berlin and her hometown. Her recent works have been showcased at the Ferdinand Bauman Gallery in Prague, Temnikova & Kasela Gallery in Tallinn, and Tanja Wagner Gallery in Berlin. In 2015, she performed at Frieze New York and collaborated with Kyp Malone for Performa 17 in November 2017.
