Kozo Paints François Lemoyne's Versailles Fresco on a 1965 Ford Mustang
Kozo's new exhibition, "Permanent Impermanence," has opened at Free Parking in New York's West Village, thanks to the CART Department. One standout piece is a hand-painted 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe, which reimagines François Lemoyne's The Apotheosis of Hercules from the Salon d'Hercule at Versailles. This exhibition will be on display until May 24 as part of the Artist Garage series, which examines cars as cultural symbols. Founded by Larry Warsh, the CART Department has worked with artists like Keith Haring and Ai Weiwei. The launch featured a private dinner with Daniel Winer and HexClad, including a menu by Chef Rōze Traore, cocktails from Ruinart and Hennessy, and art pieces made from jewelry by Sarah Ysabel Narici's DYNE. Kozo, who used to be a tattoo artist, integrates various materials in his work, often reflecting themes about creation and resilience.
