Koyo Kouoh Appointed Executive Director and Chief Curator of Zeitz MOCAA in Cape Town
Koyo Kouoh has assumed the positions of executive director and chief curator at the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in Cape Town, filling the gap created by Mark Coetzee's resignation in June amid misconduct claims. The museum, situated in Cape Town's harbor development and designed by Thomas Heatherwick, showcases Jochen Zeitz's personal collection on a long-term loan and features temporary exhibitions. With a wealth of international curatorial expertise, Kouoh founded RAW Material Company in Dakar, organized the artistic program for the 1.54 Art Fair in London and New York, and participated in Documenta 12 and 13. Recent highlights include co-curating HKW's Saving Bruce Lee and presenting Dig Where You Stand at this year’s Carnegie International. In 2016, she curated the Eva International biennial in Limerick and was ranked 72nd in ArtReview's 2019 Power 100 list. Zeitz MOCAA was founded by Jochen Zeitz, a German collector and former CEO of Puma.
