Korkut Sonic Arts Triennale Returns with 'Rites of Eternal Wind' at Tselinny Center

The second edition of the Korkut Sonic Arts Triennale, titled 'Rites of Eternal Wind', will explore sound's connection to wind through diverse perspectives, from breath to traditional instruments. Curated by Änuar Düisenbinov, Madina Sadybekova, and Sattar Stas Shärifulla, the event runs from 7 May to 28 June at the Tselinny Center of Contemporary Culture. An international lineup of artists, including Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Cevdet Erek, and Sainkho Namtchylak, will engage with sound beyond disciplinary limits. The program includes a thematic film series, roundtables, artist talks, lectures, and special collaborations. Alima Kairat, Tselinny's Artistic Director, emphasizes the center's role as a site for producing contemporary culture in Central Asia through experimentation and dialogue. The Triennale aims to create a living environment for listening to histories, bodies, and landscapes, fostering collective sensing and imagination. Over 30 artists are participating, such as Aisha Orazbayeva, Azadbek Bekchanov, and Noor Abed, highlighting the aural traditions of various cultures. This edition underscores sound as a medium for conveying knowledge across generations, with activities designed to develop artistic practices through cross-disciplinary collaboration.
