Korean Quarter at Le Lieu Unique, Nantes

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Patricia Solini, visual arts director at Le Lieu Unique in Nantes, has organized an exhibition titled "Au quartier coréen" (Korean Quarter), running from November 10, 2002 to January 5, 2003. The show features five Korean artists and one Japanese artist, transforming the former biscuit factory into a space exploring Korean culture. Jeong-Hwa Choi recreates a Korean tea room where visitors can taste teas, alongside ceramic sculptures of police motorcycle decoys and a large inflatable carnivorous flower. O-sang Won creates sculptural volumes from collaged photographs, such as a suitcase covered with life-size photos of its own details, blurring dimensions. Jong-Ku Kim writes phrases on the floor in multiple languages using metal dust, with a light bulb acting as the sun and a camera projecting the text as mountain-like landscapes. Other artists include Kyung-Ah Ham, Yeon-Doo Jung, In-Hwan Oh, and Aki.
