Korakrit Arunanondchai's Denim-Clad Performance at ICA Off-Site
On October 16, 2014, Korakrit Arunanondchai showcased a multimedia performance at London’s Old Selfridges Hotel as part of the Institute of Contemporary Arts’ off-site activities. His film trilogy explored themes of painting, Thai identity, and Western culture. The first film, 2012-2555, reflected on his grandparents’ influence in Thailand. The sequel, 2556, addressed a provocative moment from a Thai reality show featuring a body-painted performer. The series concluded with a humorous road trip film with his brother. The event featured a dance by transgender artist boychild, and Arunanondchai's works will be on display at Carlos/Ishikawa until November 15, 2014.
