Korakrit Arunanondchai balances global exhibitions with Bangkok isolation studio and Ghost festival planning

artist · 2026-04-20

Korakrit Arunanondchai is currently operating from a secluded studio in Bangkok while overseeing his New York studio from afar. His video series 'with history in a room filled with people with funny names' (2012–) will be showcased at the Yokohama Triennale from July 3 to October 11, 2020, alongside a mural depicting his grandmother. Due to COVID-19, the installation will incorporate plastic chairs. He is also in the process of organizing the second edition of the Ghost video-art festival in Bangkok. His solo exhibition at CLEARING Gallery in New York has been delayed, but another is set for November at the Serralves Museum in Porto. Additionally, he is developing new pieces for the Gwangju Biennale and Kunsthall Trondheim in early 2021. Arunanondchai's artistic approach is instinctual, and he aspires to produce a feature film within five years.
