Kora presents two exhibitions in Salento during the holidays
Kora, the contemporary art center in Castrignano de' Greci, presents two exhibitions during the holiday season. The first is a group show titled "Questo (non) è un museo" (This is (not) a museum), a diffuse exhibition curated by Paolo Mele and Claudio Zecchi that takes place in various locations around the town, including bars, pizzerias, antique shops, and a cheese factory. It features works by Italian artists Matteo Pizzolante (installation "Sapeva le forme delle nubi"), Lia Cecchin ("OLGA"), and Marcello Nitti ("Ex libris"), as well as international artists Theodoulos Polyviou and Alfatih, who present "According to some." The works, mostly from Ramdom's permanent collection, explore the poetics of memory through different expressive languages. The second exhibition is a solo show by Driant Zeneli (born 1983 in Shkodër) titled "Short fairy tales for adults," curated by Claudio Zecchi, held at Kora's spaces. It includes three works created between 2022 and 2023, largely during a recent residency in Castrignano de' Greci. The exhibition delves into psychoanalytic themes of the uncanny and lack, exploring the unconscious, dream states, metamorphosis, and transition. Zeneli's "black fairy tales" were written in collaboration with psychoanalysts and Lacanian scholars, featuring symbolic and ancestral animals without moral or existential solutions. Notable is the kinetic papier-mâché sculpture "The ostrich and the ladybug."
