Kooness: The Italian Art Marketplace Going Global

Kooness, an online art marketplace founded in Milan, has rapidly established itself as a platform connecting buyers and sellers through an intuitive interface. The platform offers three search methods—by gallery, artist, or artwork—with filters including geography, category, medium, price, and size, enabling 810 possible combinations. Tags allow users to browse related works, galleries, and artists. Kooness provides high-quality images without watermarks, an augmented reality app for iOS and Android to preview artworks in situ, and a 14-day free return policy. The platform currently features galleries from seven countries and artists from 17, with daily visitors from 21 nations. 90% of its promotion is digital, via online advertising and social media. Kooness operates as a marketplace, not a gallery, selecting partner galleries based on quality. Competitors include Artsy, Artspace, Amazon, and eBay, but Kooness believes art should be sold alone, not alongside other categories. The interview was conducted by Caterina Porcellini for Artribune.
