Konstantin Grcic's Magliana Project Installed in Nervi Pavilion in Rome
Industrial designer Konstantin Grcic created a new commission for Giustini / Stagetti Galleria O. Roma, presented as part of the Privato Romano Interno series. The work, titled Magliana Project, was installed for one day in a small pavilion by Pier Luigi Nervi—his first experiment with ferrocement—now part of a parking lot on Rome's periphery. The installation included seating, an integrated table, and a lighting system. Grcic's design emphasizes formal coherence, material research, and construction, echoing Nervi's approach despite a forty-year gap. Grcic describes his projects as structures that grow from nothing, assemblies of parts unrelated to sculpture, honest and functional. The use of fiber-reinforced cement creates soft surfaces and lighter elements. Through July, selected pieces from Magliana Project will be on display at Giustini / Stagetti Galleria O. Roma in an arrangement designed by Grcic.
