Kömmerling launches 'Habitar en evolución' architecture contest for students

architecture-design · 2026-06-02

Kömmerling, a manufacturer of high-efficiency window systems, has launched a national architecture competition for students called 'Habitar en evolución'. The challenge asks participants to design an evolutive modular home: an initial compact configuration of 25–30 m² that can expand up to 60 m² through module additions, with options for partial reduction to create new outdoor spaces. Projects must integrate Kömmerling window and enclosure systems to optimize natural light, ventilation, energy efficiency, privacy, and comfort. The contest is open to students enrolled in Architecture, Building Engineering, or related master's programs in Spain, individually or in teams of up to three. Registration and submission run from March 1 to June 30, 2026. Prizes include €1,000 for first place and publication in specialized media, a €600 Innovation Prize for best use of windows and enclosures, and three honorable mentions of €300 in sustainability, creativity, and technical feasibility categories.
