Koenraad Dedobbeleer's Sculptural Hospitality at Castillo / Corrales

Belgian artist Koenraad Dedobbeleer presents 'Encourage Lucid Groupuscules' at Galerie Castillo / Corrales in Paris from September 13 to October 27, 2012. His predominantly sculptural work interrogates architecture, citing Dan Graham, Tony Smith, and Guy de Mees, while advocating collaborative practice. The exhibition features sculptures, drawings, and prints that cultivate an aesthetic of hospitality. Dedobbeleer has been involved with Castillo / Corrales since its curatorial and editorial inception, sharing an interest in publishing; since 2006, he has produced fanzines on architecture with artist Kris Kimpe. The installation includes a bronze and steel door handle for entry and a different version for exit, an Oregon pine and chrome-plated steel bench, and ceramic and concrete sculptures. Titles act as semantic pointers, amplifying a gentle irony. A concurrent exhibition, 'Workmanship of Certainty,' runs at Le Credac in Ivry-sur-Seine through March 31, 2013.
