Kochi-Muziris Biennale Postponed to November 2021 Amid Ongoing Activities

festival-fair · 2026-04-20

The Kochi-Muziris Biennale, co-founded and led by Bose Krishnamachari, has shifted its dates from December 2020 to November 2021, as revealed by Krishnamachari and curator Shubigi Rao in October. Rao, who won the Singapore Literature Prize earlier this year for her 'Pulp' project's second volume, described this fifth edition as showcasing the joy of diverse artistic practices, even amidst challenging times. Despite the delay, the biennial remains influential in major exhibitions outside the global north. In July, they announced 25 artists who will participate. During the lockdown, they also shared works from artist friends on social media. The Students’ Biennale is now set to take place online in February 2021, allowing Rao to refine the exhibition's concept. The ArtReview Power 100 is backed by BMW Group Culture.
