Kochi-Muziris Biennale Founders Announce 2018 Curator and Launch New Cultural Hub

institutional · 2026-04-20

Anita Dube will curate the 2018 Kochi-Muziris Biennale, as announced by founders Bose Krishnamachari and Riyas Komu. The third edition, curated by Sudarshan Shetty, concluded in March with overall positive feedback despite logistical issues. Krishnamachari presented his first solo show in four years, Colour Code, at Gallery G in Bangalore during July for a week-long run. Komu opened URU Art Harbour in November, a cultural center in a repurposed Kochi warehouse aimed at advancing contemporary Indian art. Its inaugural exhibition, Mattancherry, ran for two months and featured 13 artists and research collectives, focusing on reclaiming the historic Mattancherry quarter from tourism. The biennale ended in March, and the new hub is based in Kochi.
