Klub Taiga: Immersive Performance at Triennale Milano

Industria Indipendente presented Klub Taiga at Triennale Milano in 2021, a hybrid concert and performative installation curated by Erika Z. Galli and Luca Brinchi. The work transforms the space into a dark, nocturnal club with limited access, evoking a borderland between East and West, laden with post-Soviet and Habsburg references. Federica Santoro's vocals anchor the dramaturgy, built on texts by Galli and Ruggeri that blend philosophical, literary, and poetic citations. Serbian singer Iva Stanisic delivers enigmatic, deep vocals over hypnotic sounds by Steve Pepe and rhythmic beats by Martina Ruggeri. Annamaria Ajmone periodically crosses the stage with phantasmagoric movements, evoking exotic dances à la Ruth Saint Denis, collapsing as a broken fetish. The piece explores themes of coexistence, lateral life forms, and the acceptance of failure, inviting audiences to cross thresholds into a warm, queer night. The performance adheres to anti-Covid distancing but maintains a fluid, osmotic boundary between performers and viewers.
