Klimt & Schiele Film Event Hits Italian Cinemas
A new film, "Klimt & Schiele. Eros e Psiche," directed by Michele Mally and written by Arianna Marelli, will screen in Italian cinemas on October 22, 23, and 24, 2018, before a global release. Produced by 3D Produzioni and Nexo Digital with support from Intesa Sanpaolo and featuring Lorenzo Richelmy, the documentary explores the lives and works of Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele, both of whom died in Vienna in 1918. Schiele, Klimt's pupil and protégé, succumbed to the Spanish flu at age 28. The film takes inspiration from centenary exhibitions and guides viewers through Vienna's Albertina, Belvedere, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Leopold Museum, Sigmund Freud Museum, and Wien Museum, highlighting the era's artistic and intellectual ferment, including Freud's psychoanalysis and early feminist movements.
