Klára Hosnedlová's Berlin exhibition 'Nest' features embroideries exploring Czech modernist utopia

From 7 November to 20 February, Klára Hosnedlová showcased her solo exhibition titled 'Nest' at Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler in Berlin, marking her debut in Germany. The exhibition featured expansive wall-mounted reliefs crafted with terrazzo and rounded glass orbs, illustrating embroideries of partially clothed figures, pseudoscientific ceremonies, and individuals accompanied by cats. Among the installations were a grey stone table adorned with reishi mushrooms, pools of molten glass, and smoked glass javelins. Visitors could enter a second room through a parallelogram-shaped doorway, which housed a tilted arc and a small embroidery piece. Drawing inspiration from the Ještěd Tower, Hosnedlová's work contemplates historical awareness and nostalgia, connecting former modernist ideals to the current soft dystopia, as highlighted in the exhibition brochure.
