Kipras Dubauskas's 'Take as Much as You Can Carry' at Ex Elettrofonica, Rome

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Lithuanian artist Kipras Dubauskas (b. 1988) presents 'Take as Much as You Can Carry' at Ex Elettrofonica in Rome, curated by Benedetta Carpi De Resmini. A large orange tube connects the gallery's interior and exterior, linking peripheral Vilnius and Krakow—whose silent, gloomy images appear in the eponymous film—with Rome. Bamboo canes evoke the riverine environment of his homeland and suggest precariousness. Outside, a scooter with Lithuanian plates will have its main parts removed over the course of the exhibition by a person from an ethnic minority in exchange for a certificate of authenticity provided by the artist, using barter as a tool to create human relationships and engage with the host city. The exhibition runs until June 30, 2016.
