Kino wie noch nie: Film Montage as Art at Akademie der Künste Berlin
The exhibition titled 'Kino wie noch nie' (Cinema as Never Before) was held at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin from May 12 to July 8, 2007, following its initial presentation at the Fondation Generali in Vienna in 2006. Curated by Harun Farocki and Antje Ehmann, the show focuses on the history of montage and moving images. A key feature is Farocki's installation 'Arbeiter verlassen die Fabrik in elf Jahrzehnten' (2006), which displays twelve screens showing workers exiting factories, ranging from the Lumière brothers' 1895 film to Lars von Trier's 'Dancer in the Dark' (2000). Additional pieces include Stephen Zepke's 'Immigrants from Outer Space' (2006), Éric Rondepierre's photographs, Julian Rosefeldt's 'Trilogie des Scheiterns Teil 2' (2004), and Krassimir Terziev's 'A Movie' (2004).
