Kilowatt Festival 2021: Community-Driven Theatre in Sansepolcro

The 2021 edition of the Kilowatt Festival, led by Luca Ricci, wrapped up in Sansepolcro, the hometown of Piero della Francesca. From 250 submissions, local residents known as 'i visionari' chose eight performances. This year, participation included 38 locals aged 25 to 75 and two high school classes. The festival showcased a variety of acts, such as dance performances by Panzetti/Ticconi and Linda Hayford, dramatic works by Carver and Churchill, as well as pieces from both emerging Italian groups like collettivo Munerude and established artists like Roberto Latini. Highlights included Lois Alexander's 'Neptune,' 'Togliatti mon amour,' and 'GiOTTO,' with Andrea Cosentino's 'Fakefolk' concluding the event. Challenges arose due to restrictions on using the Giardini di Piero, reflecting broader issues in Italy's cultural landscape.
