Killoffer's Graphic Novel '676 Apparizioni' Finally Published in Italian

publication · 2026-05-05

The Italian edition of Patrice Killoffer's graphic novel '676 apparizioni di Killoffer' has been released by Coconino Press-Fandango, 15 years after its original 2002 publication. The book, a 48-page hardcover priced at €17, is a raw, autobiographical descent into the artist's psyche, triggered by a mundane worry about unwashed dishes left in his Paris kitchen while he was in Montreal. The narrative spirals into obsessive, paranoid, and sadomasochistic hallucinations, blending French traditions of eroticism and black humor inherited from his teacher Georges Pichard and the Hara-Kiri ethos. Killoffer, born in Metz in 1966 and educated at the École des arts appliqués in Paris, employs innovative graphic-narrative solutions, zigzagging panel layouts, and a stark black-and-white line. The book has been praised by American author Charles Burns as 'a raw, spectacular masterpiece on self-loathing and horror.' The edition includes a self-sarcastic dedication to himself. The review was written by Ferruccio Giromini.
