Kiang Malingue Opens New York Gallery with Hiroka Yamashita Solo Show
Kiang Malingue has launched a new gallery space in New York's Lower East Side, occupying a former textile factory with distinctive architectural features. The inaugural exhibition features Japanese artist Hiroka Yamashita's first solo presentation in New York, showcasing her latest paintings. Yamashita, born in 1991, creates ethereal canvases inspired by Japanese mythology. Gallery co-owner Lorraine Kiang noted the pending arrival of Yamashita's works during a preview. The 325-square-meter venue retains original terracotta red flooring and features high ceilings with abundant natural light. This expansion follows the recent closure of the gallery's Hong Kong location, which was known for its mustard yellow floors. The New York outpost represents Kiang Malingue's continued international growth.
