Khaled Hourani's 'Leaping Over the Barrier' at Zawyeh Gallery
Khaled Hourani, a Palestinian artist, will launch his solo exhibition, 'Leaping Over the Barrier,' at Zawyeh Gallery in Dubai on September 19. This showcase reflects on the separation wall, which Hourani believes symbolizes occupation and is becoming a global issue. He advocates for the removal of such barriers, stating, "Stop the walls so I can stop painting them." His art features young men using their hands, ropes, and ladders to climb the wall, drawing inspiration from how media depicts Palestinians. Hourani has served as the artistic director for the International Academy of Art Palestine and led the Fine Arts Department in the Palestinian Ministry of Culture. He received the Leonore Annenberg Prize for Art and Social Change in 2013 and started the 'Picasso in Palestine' project in 2011, presenting his work at the Sharjah Biennial the same year.
