Kerstin Brätsch's Dual-Space Exhibition at Fondazione Memmo

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Kerstin Brätsch (Hamburg, 1979) presents a solo exhibition at Fondazione Memmo in Rome, spanning two spaces: a house and a stable. The show explores painting's destabilization through collaborations with artisans. In the main space, Brätsch works with German marbling master Dirk Lange on 'Unstable Talismanic Rendering' series, using gravity-driven ink and solvent drips on paper. With artisan Walter Cipriani, she creates stuccomarmo sculptures mimicking marble and rare stones, a technique originating in 16th-century Bavaria. These polychrome works blend painting and sculpture, appearing as ritual talismans with mineral energy. The second space features 'KOVO', a site-specific installation by collective KAYA (Brätsch and Debo Eilers), presenting lamps and hides that collide painting and sculpture, evoking a ritual between human and sci-fi. A limited edition song by Brätsch, Eilers, and sound artist Nicolas An Xedro completes the exhibition.
