Kerry James Marshall: The Histories — First French Solo Exhibition at Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris
The Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris will present 'Kerry James Marshall: The Histories' from 18 September 2026 to 24 January 2027, marking the first exhibition in France focused on the American artist. This showcase, organized in partnership with Kunsthaus Zürich and the Royal Academy of Arts, features seventy artworks, including eight newly created pieces. Born in 1955 in Birmingham, Alabama, Marshall is celebrated for centering Black figures in expansive compositions that explore themes of cultural influence and historical trauma. The exhibition, which spans more than forty years, includes loans from museums across North America and Europe, continuing MAM Paris's dedication to highlighting Black American artists, following previous displays of Kara Walker and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
