Kent Jones' 'Late Fame' to Premiere in US at Film Forum

On Friday, August 7, Film Forum will present the U.S. theatrical debut of 'Late Fame,' directed by Kent Jones. The film features Willem Dafoe in the role of Ed Saxberger, a postal worker whose history as a downtown poet in late-1970s New York is brought back to life by a young fan, Edmund Donovan, and his group, the 'Enthusiasm Society,' comprised of idealistic twentysomethings. Alongside his new companions, including the enigmatic Gloria, portrayed by Lee from 'Past Lives,' Ed undergoes a surreal reconnection with his younger self. Written by Samy Burch ('May December'), 'Late Fame' is characterized as a humorous, vibrant, and sometimes haunting tale set in New York. The film premiered globally at the 2025 Venice Film Festival and was later shown at the 2025 New York Film Festival, Viennale, and other events. This marks Jones' fifth feature, following his acclaimed works 'Diane' (2019) and the documentary 'Hitchcock/Truffaut' (2015), which also debuted at Film Forum.
