Kenny Scharf documentary premieres on Sky Arte for his 65th birthday

On Thursday, November 23, 2023, Sky Arte aired the documentary 'Kenny Scharf: When Worlds Collide' directed by Malia Scharf and Max Basch, coinciding with the artist's 65th birthday. The film traces Scharf's career from the abandoned New York of the late 1970s, where he formed a close friendship with Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. Unlike his two friends who died prematurely, Scharf navigated multiple phases of the New York art scene, including the AIDS crisis, and maintained his technicolor Pop Art vision. The documentary, the result of eleven years of research, features interviews and rare archival footage including Andy Warhol, Basquiat, Haring, Ed Ruscha, Dennis Hopper, Yoko Ono, Kaws, Marilyn Minter, and Jeffrey Deitch.
