Kenneth Noland Estate Now Represented by Mitchell-Innes & Nash, Exhibitions Continue in New York
Mitchell-Innes & Nash has secured exclusive representation of the Kenneth Noland estate, the American Color Field painter who passed away in January 2010 from kidney cancer at his Port Clyde, Maine home. Noland emerged as a prominent figure in the 1960s Color Field movement, with his work championed by critic Clement Greenberg. His paintings, often featuring lines and shapes inspired by the natural world, convey harmony and serenity through color exploration. Titles such as 'Via Light' and 'Via Shimmer' reference Roman roads and air mail stickers, suggesting themes of travel, motion, and speed. A historic exhibition at Loretta Howard Gallery runs through October 29. Concurrent shows include 'Kenneth Noland: Contrapuntal' at Ameringer Yohe Fine Art until November 22, located at 20 W. 57th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, and 'Markus Linnenbrink: The Beauty You Are' at Margaret Thatcher Projects until November 29 at 511 W. 25th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues. Another exhibition, 'The Sentimental Favorite: abstract painting,' features works by Elsbeth Deser, Iva Gueorguieva, Frederick Hayes, and Mark Takamichi Miller.
