Kenneth Law to plead guilty in Ontario suicide kit case, avoiding murder trial
Kenneth Law, aged 60, has agreed to plead guilty to charges of counselling or aiding suicide, thereby circumventing a trial for 14 counts of first-degree murder. The ex-cook from a Toronto hotel is alleged to have assisted 14 individuals from Ontario, between the ages of 16 and 36, in taking their own lives by selling a legal yet lethal substance online. His attorney, Matthew Gourlay from Henein Hutchison Robitaille, revealed the plea deal on Saturday. Law ran multiple websites from around 2020, promoting and selling a toxic salt along with items like masks and hoods that could facilitate self-harm. The case will return to court in Newmarket, Ontario, on Monday, with the plea to be entered later. The Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General has not yet commented. York Regional Police Inspector Simon James addressed the situation at a news conference in Mississauga, Ontario, in August 2023. Gourlay refrained from providing additional comments.
