Kengo Kuma to Build Nature-Integrated Office Complex in Milan

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

Kengo Kuma and Associates will design Welcome, feeling at work, a nature-integrated office complex in Milan near Parco Lambro, set for completion by 2024. The project, presented at Triennale di Milano, is developed by Gruppo Europa Risorse and funded by PineBridge Benson Elliot. It features offices, co-working spaces, an auditorium, retail, restaurants, a supermarket, wellness area, and event spaces, emphasizing wood and vegetation. Architect Yuki Ikeguchi described the "biophilic architecture" approach, using organic materials to enhance well-being and productivity. The horizontal layout contrasts with Milan's vertical trends, aiming to connect with Parco Lambro and the Crescenzago metro area. The six-building complex includes courtyards, greenhouses, and terraces with gardens and walkways. Construction has started, and the project will be presented at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition. Milan's urban planning assessor Pierfrancesco Maran noted ongoing approval evaluations.
