Kengo Kuma & Paul Raff Studio Win Banff Visitor Centre Competition

On May 13, 2026, the winning design for a revamped visitor centre and community area in Banff National Park was revealed by Parks Canada. Chosen from a shortlist of five qualified teams, the proposal from Paul Raff Studio and Kengo Kuma & Associates stood out. This competition was conducted in collaboration with the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) as a component of the 200-Block Banff Avenue Redevelopment Project. The independent jury, appointed by the RAIC, selected this design due to its innovative landscape approach, commitment to sustainability, and its effective integration of conservation, heritage, Indigenous viewpoints, and the overall visitor experience.
