Kemper Museum to Present 'Lie. Sit. Stand. Be Still.' in Two Rotations

From August 28, 2026, to July 25, 2027, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, Missouri, will host the exhibition titled 'Lie. Sit. Stand. Be Still.' This showcase will feature two segments, with the second set of artworks debuting on February 5, 2027. The pieces on display will highlight themes of slowness, contemplation, silence, and rest, inspired by a 1995 portfolio in the museum’s collection, which includes poetry by Michael McClure (1932–2020) and lithographs by Robert Graham (1938–2008). The exhibition encourages viewers to consider the importance of reflection and leisure as vital and beautiful elements of the human experience, promoting a meditative interaction with art.
