Kemper Museum Examines Anthropocene Through Photography in Major Exhibition
The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art will present "Second Nature: Photography in the Age of the Anthropocene" from May 22 to September 13, 2026. This is the first major exhibition to explore the Anthropocene epoch through contemporary photography, featuring about 40 photo-based artists from around the world. The term "Anthropocene" was introduced by scientists just over 20 years ago to describe a geological epoch marked by significant human impact on the global climate. Since then, the concept has spread through environmental studies, media coverage, activism, and artistic practice.
