Kelmscott Manor Tapestry Room restoration enters final phase
The Tapestry Room at Kelmscott Manor in Oxfordshire is undergoing final restoration as part of the "Threads of the Past" project. The room, once the creative heart of William Morris's home, will reopen to visitors on 16 June 2026. The project focuses on the rare 17th-century "Life of Samson" tapestries, which have hung in the room. Morris considered tapestry the "noblest of all the weaving arts," and the room inspired him and his circle, including Dante Gabriel Rossetti. The restoration aims to recreate the atmosphere that fueled Morris's designs and writings.
