Kelly Weiss, Iwan Warnet, Samuel François at Berthold Pott
Berthold Pott in Cologne presents 'K W I W S F', a three-person exhibition featuring Kelly Weiss, Iwan Warnet, and Samuel François. The works were developed during a month-long residency at La Tannerie, an art center in Brittany, France, in June 2025. The artists immersed themselves in the garden environment, sharing meals, gathering materials, and responding to the changing coastal light. Weiss's 'untitled (trap)' uses polycarbonate to create micro-environments that oscillate between box and model, exploring translucency and industrial economy. Warnet's 'Wandering Lines' drawings depict fluid figures and plants in almond shades and madder-dyed paper, acting as clues that influence perception of surrounding paintings. François's 'Lay Down' (2026) combines sculpture and painting with a cadmium-coated chrome surface that collects stranded fragments, evoking ocean waves and dragonflies. The exhibition emphasizes surfaces as spaces for interaction, chemical transformation, and sensory transcription of the environment. Each artist works with simple materials and everyday objects, reducing gestures to reveal rusty asperities, refined petrol hues, and paper dyed by faded flowers. The show runs at Berthold Pott in Cologne.
