Kelly Akashi's 'Converging Figures' Opens at GAM Milano for Furla Series

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The sixth installment of the Furla Series, which celebrates women artists, is currently exhibited at GAM – Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Milan. Featured artist Kelly Akashi, born in Los Angeles in 1983, presents her show 'Converging Figures' from September 13 to December 8, 2024, under the curation of Bruna Roccasalva. This exhibition delves into the theme of 'reflection' through newly created works that engage with the architecture of the collection. Akashi's creations in glass, wax, and bronze explore themes such as time, space, and entropy, showcasing her exceptional craftsmanship. She previously held a traveling exhibition at the San Jose Museum of Art and other locations (2022–2024) and solo exhibitions at Henry Art Gallery (2023). Akashi received the MOCA Distinguished Women in the Arts Award in 2024.
