Keith Haring Retrospective with 140 Works at Palazzo Braschi in 2026

A major Keith Haring retrospective, featuring over 140 works primarily from the Nakamura Keith Haring Collection, will open at the Museo di Roma at Palazzo Braschi on October 6, 2026, and run until April 11, 2027. Curated by Kaoru Yanase, Ilaria Miarelli Mariani, and Claudio Zambianchi, the exhibition traces Haring's evolution from his early subway drawings to large paintings, posters, sculptures, and archival materials. A key focus is Haring's relationship with Italy, including works made for Lucio Amelio and Galleria Salvatore Ala, the 'Poster for Pisa' linked to the 'Tuttomondo' mural, and 'Motorcycle' painted in Rome in 1984. Photographs by Stefano Fontebasso De Martino document Haring's interventions at Palazzo delle Esposizioni for 'Arte di frontiera. New York Graffiti' and on the transparent surfaces of Ponte Pietro Nenni. The exhibition aims to show how Haring transformed a simple graphic vocabulary into a tool for collective participation, emphasizing his belief that art should be accessible to all. A program of activities for schools, families, and adults will accompany the show.
