Keith Haring retrospective at Villa Reale Monza draws from private collection
A major exhibition dedicated to Keith Haring (1958-1990) is on view at the Orangerie of Villa Reale in Monza, featuring works and memorabilia from a single private collection. The show, titled 'Radiant Vision,' presents a personal and passionate overview of the artist's brief but impactful career. After a four-stop American tour, the collection arrives at the Orangerie, where Haring's 2007 mural 'Milwaukee' was previously installed. The exhibition opens with Haring's iconic motifs—radiant baby, barking dog, TV, UFO—then expands into variations across magazines, music collaborations, T-shirts, posters, and social campaigns. Highlights include a portfolio of etchings illustrating a text by William S. Burroughs, showcasing Haring's paradoxical classicism, and 'Medusa Head,' described as the largest engraving ever made by Haring, created after a chance meeting with printer Borch Jensen. Objects from Haring's Pop Shop, such as handcrafted 'Weird Magnets,' reflect a more innocent era. The exhibition runs at the Orangerie of Villa Reale, Monza.
