Keith Edmier's 1991-2007 Survey at Bard College Explores Nostalgia Through Cast Sculptures
In 2008, Bard College's Center for Curatorial Studies hosted 'Keith Edmier 1991-2007', the most extensive survey exhibition of artist Keith Edmier. The New York-based creator presented more than 35 sculptures and installations crafted from dental acrylic, polyurethane, and silicone. Drawing from his childhood in the Midwest during the 1970s, his works include pieces such as 'Beverly Edmier 1967' and 'Bremen Towne'. His experiences as a dental assistant and special effects designer influence his casting techniques, delving into themes of sexual anatomy and reproduction. Noteworthy figures like Farrah Fawcett and John Lennon feature in his nostalgic creations. The exhibition also included 'Cycas Orgeny', 'Sunflower', and 'Untitled', and received a review from Lyra Kilston in January 2008.
